While editing large projects, it is often necessary to select certain events on the timeline for processing. The Select Events tool is designed to simplify this task. Vegas Pro offers different methods for selecting events (such as Select All, Select Events to End of a track, Select all events that refer to a specific media file and some others). However, no function is provided to select an event depending on its position relative to the cursor or the track. The Select Events tool facilitates selection of events. For example, every second audio event before the cursor on all tracks can be selected or all video events except those that refer to a specific media file can be selected. And of course your own presets can be created, which further enables the selection of the desired events with the click of a button.

- Events can be selected, deselected and inverted. Only those events that match the current filter and the specified directions will be processed.
- The tool contains six options for specifying direction, which can be used in any combination as desired. One group of options specifies which events should be processed, depending on each event's position relative to the cursor. The another group specifies which events should be processed, depending on each event's position relative to the selected track. The available directions are: To the left of the cursor, Under cursor, To the right of the cursor, Above the selected track, On the selected track, Below the selected track.
- Powerful filter options. You can select only video or audio events, generated media, images, events on the selected tracks or just selected events, events within a current timeline selection or loop region, every 'n' event, or events which refer to a specified media file.
